bidders must follow the below guidelines or risk being banned from participating in future auctions. by joining an mci auction, participants indicate that they have read and agree to these rules and guidelines.
The below rules have been established to ensure smooth and enjoyable auctions for all participants and MCI staff. Please follow the rules to the best of your ability to maintain access to our current and future auctions!
During the Auction
Read all item details, especially measurements, carefully before bidding. If an item is represented correctly in the description, the winner is expected to pay for the item and bring an appropriately-sized vehicle to their pickup appointment.
Consider your bids carefully. Please only bid on items you truly want and at amounts you are willing to pay. Bids cannot easily be withdrawn during the auction and must be completed by an administrator.
After the Auction
You must set a pickup appointment before the published cutoff date. Item pickups are by appointment only - if you show up without an appointment, you will be turned away and asked to schedule one online. If an appointment is not scheduled before the cutoff date, then your auction items will be considered forfeit.
You must be on-site at your scheduled appointment time. If you are 5 or more minutes late for your pickup, you will have to wait on-site until we can fit you in among other scheduled appointments.
You must carefully check all items before leaving the pickup location. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS for missing parts or damaged/imperfect/misrepresented items after you have left our facility. Customers are responsible for ensuring that they have all included pieces/parts and that their items are as represented before leaving.
All auction winnings must be paid for and picked up within 14 days of the last scheduled auction pick up time. All auction winnings must be paid for in full by the end of the scheduled auction pick-up period. Items not collected during the standard pick-up times must be retrieved within 14 days of the final pick-up day. Any items not picked up within this timeframe will be considered forfeited, and NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED. For pick-ups outside of the standard auction pick-up times, appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by calling our office at (919) 917-7764. Pick-ups can only be arranged during our normal warehouse receiving hours of 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Please note, no assistance with loading items will be provided, as our team will be out of the warehouse installing models.
Item Listings: The Fine Print
Please review the below details regarding item listings and understand that these are not acceptable reasons for item refusals.
All item dimensions are approximate and listed in inches unless otherwise specified. Measurements are shown in Width (W) x Depth (D) x Height (H). For example, 34x18x30 represents 34" width, 18" depth, and 30" height. R represents round, and S represents square. SH represents seat height.
“Wear and tear” covers many types of damage to items, including but not limited to scuffing, smudging, scratching, chipping, staining, smudging, dirt and dust, etc. We always try to photograph wear and tear to items, but sometimes we are restricted by photo limits on our auction website - in these cases, we will take photos that represent the type of wear to the item and describe the wear in the item description.
Pillows shown are not included unless otherwise specified.
Item colors may appear differently in photos than they do in person.
Bedskirts shown in photos with bedding sets are not guaranteed to be included, and there is no guarantee that the bedskirt will be the same size as the bedding.
We cannot guarantee the condition of lamp shades as they are sometimes cracked or damaged during transport.
All items in our auctions are sold sight-unseen. When you place a bid on an item, you are committed to paying for it if you win. We allow item refusals only under very limited circumstances, as outlined below.
Refusals Accepted
Refusals Not Accepted
The buyer has first right of refusal ONLY if an item is misrepresented on the auction website’s item description page. If a buyer refuses an item that is deemed to be misrepresented, a refund will be issued if the item has already been paid for.
The following are examples of item misrepresentation that would allow for refusals:
Item damage not pictured or noted in the item’s description
NOTE: *WEAR* covers many types of damage to items, including but not limited to scuffing, smudging, scratching, chipping, staining, smudging, dirt and dust, etc. We always try to photograph wear and tear to items, but sometimes we are restricted by photo limits on our auction website - in these cases, we will take photos that represent the type of wear to the item and describe the wear in the item description.
Completely different color than described in the written description (sometimes items will photograph differently, which doesn’t always count as misrepresentation)
Listed measurements incorrect by 3” or more
Item sets or collections missing an item
Items may only be refused during a pickup appointment - NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED once a customer has left our facility with their items.
The following are examples of circumstances that would not allow for refusals:
An item is a different color/size/etc. than customer expected, but was represented correctly in the listing
An item does not fit in a customer’s vehicle
An item is worn or damaged, but said damage was displayed or described in the listing
A customer decides they don’t like the item in person
A customer bids on multiple items but didn’t intend on winning all of them
If an item is determined to have been represented correctly, the buyer is responsible for paying for and taking the item or they will risk losing all awarded auction items and participation in future MCI auctions.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that their items are as described before leaving our facility.
Bannable Offenses
While we are generally lenient with participants because we understand that everyone makes mistakes, on occasion we do unfortunately have to ban individuals from participating in our auctions.
Some bannable offenses include, but are not limited to:
Repeatedly bidding on items and asking us to remove the bids
Winning items and refusing them after the auction for reasons other than item misrepresentation (“I don’t like it,” “I didn’t think I would win it,” etc.)
Repeatedly failing to set a pickup appointment for items without following up to make other arrangements
Berating/harassing/displaying any other inappropriate behavior towards other customers or MCI staff via email, phone, or in person
If a participant is banned after an auction, we reserve the right to withdraw all awarded items at our discretion. If a participant is banned during an ongoing auction, we reserve the right to withdraw the participant’s bids on all items and any purchased “Buy Now” items at our discretion.
Please note that a participant is not absolved from committing a bannable offense resulting from carelessness or failure to read the listed rules and guidelines.
